The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
