Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
