The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
