The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
