The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
