The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
