The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
