The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
