The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
True are the words of God the Almighty.
