The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
