The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
