The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
