The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
