The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
