The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
