The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
