The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
