The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
