The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
