The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
