The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
