The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
