The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
