The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
