The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
