The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
