The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
