The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
