The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
