The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
