The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
