The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
