The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
