The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and brightening morning, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
