The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
