The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
