The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
