The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
