The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
