Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
