The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the close of night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
