The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
