The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
