The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
