The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
