The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
