The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
