The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
