Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And the stars dispersed, 2 when the seas are made to burst forth, 3 and when graves are laid open, 4 Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back. 5 O man! what hath beguiled thee concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful, 6 Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; 7 In whatever form He willed, He put you together. 8 Rather, you belied the Recompense. 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 noble scribes, 11 and these honorable scribes know whatever you do. 12 The virtuous ones will live in bliss 13 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 and from which they will find no escape. 16 They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is! 17 Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
