Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder. 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 And when the Graves are turned upside down;- 4 A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. 5 O man! What is it that lures you away from your bountiful Sustainer, 6 Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee? 7 in whatever composition He wanted. 8 Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day, 9 Lo! there are above you guardians, 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 aware of whatever you do! 12 Verily, the Abrar (pious and righteous) will be in delight (Paradise); 13 And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will be in the blazing Fire (Hell), 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 and which they shall not [be able to] evade. 16 What do you know what the Day of Recompense is? 17 How then can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 18 It will be a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to any other human being, God [alone] will hold command on that Day. 19
