The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
